The buzz: French fine-dining establishment Les Amis from Singapore—named one of the world’s 100 best restaurants by Restaurant Magazine—has opened its first overseas restaurant in a three-storey building in the Star Street area.

The food: Les Amis’s executive chef Thomas Mayr relocated to Hong Kong, along with the restaurant’s signature dishes, such as egg confit in truffled oxtail gelee. However, his new tenure at Cepage means that he’s able to experiment more and introduce new creations to Hong Kong. He specializes in French-Mediterranean fare made with the freshest ingredients. A must-try is the succulent Alaskan king crab leg with caviar, avocado and green apple. But be sure to savor it—this starter rings in at $480.
The wine: Cepages’s wine list is 83 pages long, and its two wine cellars stock more than 8,000 bottles from the old and new world—the most expensive coming in at $159,000. Wine pairing is available, but if you’re a wine buff, why not pick out a bottle and let the restaurant choose the dishes for you instead?
The crowd: Since its official opening a couple of weeks ago, Cépage has become a bit of a tycoon’s canteen. So look twice when you brush elbows there.
Why you’ll be back: Because everyone wants to live the high life sometimes.
